Bio
Mari Abramishvili is a contemporary visual artist based in Tbilisi, Georgia. Working primarily across oil and acrylic painting, mixed media, and installation, her practice explores the relationship between nature, memory, femininity, and identity.
Drawing inspiration from the natural world and personal experience, Mari creates emotionally charged works that examine vulnerability, transformation, and the ways women experience and construct identity. Color, organic forms, texture, and recurring feminine figures play a central role in her visual language.
Her work has been presented in group exhibitions in Georgia and internationally including Armenia and Germany.
¿Qué importancia tiene el arte en tu vida?
Art is a huge part of my life. It’s how I express myself, process emotions, and connect with the world around me. It also changes the way I see everyday things - nature, people, places, and small moments often become sources of inspiration.
¿Cómo crees que el Arte puede contribuir al fortalecimiento de la Cultura de Paz?
I think art can strengthen a culture of peace by creating empathy and helping people understand experiences different from their own. It gives us a way to communicate beyond language, bring different communities together, and express difficult emotions or ideas without conflict.
Estamos viviendo un momento marcado por guerras, crisis humanitarias, cambio climático, grandes escándalos en el escenario político, aumento de los casos de feminicidio, autoritarismo e intolerancia religiosa. ¿Cuál de estas cuestiones te afecta más? ¿Qué es lo que más te preocupa en este momento?
What affects me most is the rise in wars and humanitarian crises, because of how quickly they destroy lives, communities, and people’s sense of safety. I’m also deeply concerned about violence against women and growing intolerance. What worries me most is how easily we can become desensitized to the suffering of others when we are exposed to it every day.
En tu opinión, ¿cómo puede el Arte contribuir a elevar la conciencia de las personas sobre los temas mencionados?
In my own practice, I often explore themes connected to identity, emotions, nature, and the human experience. I believe art can raise awareness by making large or difficult issues feel personal and emotionally relatable. Rather than simply presenting facts, art can encourage people to pause, feel, question, and see an issue from another perspective.
