Bio

Vigen Sayadyan is an Armenian contemporary artist whose practice combines elements of
mysticism with the emotional sensitivity of metamodernism. He studied at the Zeitun Art School
and later graduated from the Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts, where he developed a strong foundation in classical painting alongside a personal symbolic language.
From an early age, Vigen gained international recognition, becoming a laureate of the
Presidential Award of Armenia and receiving prizes in art competitions held in Japan,
Russia, Great Britain, as well as exhibitions organized under the auspices of the United
Nations. Among his notable achievements is a 3rd place award in the Golden Time Talent
competition in Great Britain.
His works have been exhibited in museums and galleries in Armenia, Russia, and Japan, and he has participated in numerous international exhibitions and biennales, including major art events in Italy, Brazil, Great Britain, and Belarus.
Today, Sayadyan’s paintings focus on themes of faith, hope, and inner transformation, exploring the human spiritual journey through vivid color, expressive form, and symbolic imagery.

Qual a importância da arte em sua vida?

Art is my way of understanding reality, exploring consciousness, and questioning what it means to be human. Through painting, I try to express ideas and experiences that are difficult to communicate through words. For me, art is also a way to connect people, inspire reflection, and create a space where different perspectives can meet.

Como você acha que a Arte pode contribuir no fortalecimento da Cultura de Paz?

Art can contribute to a Culture of Peace by changing the way we see ourselves, other people, and the world around us. It can create a space for dialogue beyond political, cultural, and ideological differences. I believe that when art encourages people to question, reflect, and develop greater awareness, it can help replace fear and division with empathy, understanding, and a sense of connection.

What concerns me most is the growing instability of the world and its impact on the human consciousness. Wars, political conflicts, intolerance, climate change, and humanitarian crises are not isolated problems; they are interconnected symptoms of a deeper uncertainty about our future. I am particularly concerned by how easily fear and division can become part of everyday life, making the boundaries between friend and foe, truth and illusion increasingly blurred. Through my art, I explore this fragile condition while searching for a possibility of transformation. Even in the face of uncertainty, I believe that consciousness, empathy, and hope remain possible.

Na sua opinião, como a Arte pode contribuir na elevação da consciência das pessoas em relação às questões mencionadas acima?

Art can raise awareness by making complex issues personal and emotionally tangible. It can reach people not only through information, but through feelings, imagination, and reflection. A painting can make us pause, question our assumptions, and see realities that we might otherwise ignore. I believe art has the power to create empathy and encourage people to look beyond fear, division, and indifference. In this sense, art does not simply describe the problems of our time; it can help us imagine different ways of understanding ourselves, each other, and the future.
