Bio
I am a Ukrainian artist. I have been drawing all my life. I love art, peacebuilding, and language learning.
What is the importance of art in your life?
Art can bring different people together. It can be a language without words. Art has transformative power. It can also tell us about people, cultures, and historical epochs.
How do you think Art can contribute to strengthening a Culture of Peace?
I believe that art helps develop understanding of yourself, the 'other'. It can address audiences and individual viewers and foster a culture of dialogue, attentive listening, and serendipity.
We are living in a time marked by wars, humanitarian crises, climate change, major political scandals, rising cases of femicide, authoritarianism, and religious intolerance. Which of these issues affects you the most? What concerns you the most at this moment?
I am affected by the war and I would like all wars to end as soon as possible. I am concerned by the fact that the arms race in the world is growing, and AI is replacing people at workplaces.
In your opinion, how can Art contribute to raising people's awareness about the issues mentioned above?
Art can speak about personal experiences, share feelings and emotions. Creating art, looking at art, attending collective painting and drawing sessions as well as individual creative acts can make people more inspired, compassionate, and willing to create, not destroy.
